Critique welcome on the following shots. Taken with my D1 just prior to purchasing the D70. Lens used was the 28-105mm, handheld.

Love number two Chris... the higher contrast, pinker sky hues and simple building geometry works better than the first in my opinion.
Looks like it has a dust spot that needs attention though

Chris,
I prefer number two. The textures are just great. Plus black an blue are my favourite colours.
Was this shot from your residence or another building

Chris,
It has just come to me that the second shot, the main building resembles a conning tower on neclear submarine and that is taking nothing away from the shot, merely an observation. I like your work, if only I could do as well. May be one day.
Goodbye for now,

Number two here as well. Just shows how much impact slightly different lighting etc can have on a shot. Great work.
One day, when I grow up, I want to take shots just like that

I love no 2! I made a copy and applied a contrast mask to it to see how well it would work. I think the mask took it that 1 step further! If you'd like to give it a try the instructions for the mask have been posted previously. I think about 3 months ago. I'd love to hear your opinion of the masked image.
Here's how
CONTROL+J to make a copy....IMAGE/ADJUSTMENT/DESATURATE...to make the copy B&W....IMAGE/ADJUSTMENT/INVERT....to make the copy a negative.....FILTER/BLUR/GAUSIAN BLUR......around 3.2 or to taste....LAYER/MODE/OVERLAY (on the layer pallet) .....to apply the contrast mask. Adjust the opacity of the top layer to suit. Turn the top layer off by clicking the eye symbol to see which version you prefer.
