No, im not sure what that is. I think its some sort of vignetting from the lens. It doesnt happen at 70mm, but at 18 i get that in the top right hand corner every time.
yes, it's vignetting, and and yes, wide open, the kit lens is a little prone to this.
A couple of questions - are you using the supplied lenshood, and if so - please don't take this the wrong way - are you sure you have it mounted correctly? There have been instances of the hood not being fully or correctly mounted, and in either case that can add to the problem of vignetting. It needs to be
firmly clicked into place, with the shorter of the petals aligned with the horizontal plane.
Also, what filter(s) did you have mounted on the lens when you took these images? Any mounted filters will add to the leading edge of the lens, and if you're already on the borderline, that might just be enough to throw you over and into vignette territory.
If you have stacked filters - say a UV + CPL - than this problem will be exacerbated; so it's probably best to just use the one fillter at any one time.
