Yes I was panning, I will only not pan a front on or rear shot when doing this sort of thing. I was experimenting with slower shutter speeds today, lost quite a few photos, but it was a good learning experience.

I've touched it up slightly, is this what you meant (remember I am a newbie )?

That's a good catch, sharp with nice blur on the wheels and the water spray... You'd be very happy with that one...

I'm being a picky sod here, but the reflection of the tail light keeps taking my eye away from the car... It should be there but wonder what it would look like if the taillight reflection was, ummm, maybe de-saturated or something to lessen it's color strength??? Dunno, just a thought to see what it would look like. Like the wheel reflections though.

You must have good camera technique to get that sharp a shot with a slow enough shutter speed to get the blurred water spray...

The yellow wheels on that Forrester GT look almost too yellow. Were they yellow or gold in person?

Yes they were really that bright and yellow in real life. They were supposed to match the yellow stripe on the T-shirt of the passenger, but who ever painted them got carried away...

hi! can i ask which Auto Focus was used? AF-S or AF-C? And also which Auto Focus Area?

hi! can i ask which Auto Focus was used? AF-S or AF-C? And also which Auto Focus Area?

Sure, AF-C, always continuous, if I want fixed focus I'll go manual or lock the focus, the 70-300G is quick enough to focus as long as you are close to the focal point to begin with.

The centre focus point is always used, I found that closest would mess up too easily as I panned.

Agreed about the Forester wheels, they're far too yellow. It looks like its about to tip over too!

I gather this was some kind of Subaru club meet? Were there any new Liberty GTs there? Those cars are seriously HOT.

It was a club day for the Queensland WRX Club Inc, we do them regularly throughout the year for driver training and control and a bit of fun in a controlled environment.

This is my car, whilst it's been set up for motorsports, the last little repair job (replaced the 5speed gearbox with a 6speed gearbox after breaking the former) has stopped me competing thus far, so I've been concentrating on my other passion



We do full track days as well, where helmets and natural fibre clothing is required as a minimum. This weekend is the first local hill climb event that I hope to get some photos of.

Also, Dizz, whilst there are two or three GT's in the club none of them attended the day unfortunately.
