As Leigh said, I just waited ages to download a red cross. You Mac users with your fancy image handling systems :?

I can see the pic. Excellent as usual from you Chris. I really like the colour in this one and the detail on the bird is great. If I was being picky I'd say its cropped a little too tight.

Glen - the mac is fancy but the user is an idiot - I had loaded a pic with the same prefix and forgot to put the tilde0 in

Chris my inexpert opinion (I know only what I like) is that the colours are good the image crisp, but the background is too fussy and distracting.

I know, I know - I was black and blue afterwards as I slapped myself around for cutting the pinkie off.

I would like to have had the background clear of other birds but it was a grab shot because he/she looked as if they were having a sleep whilst all of the other birds were making a racket that would have woken the dead

Chris, that is a fabulous shot. Did you do much saturation adjustment to get it looking that vivid, or was it straight out of the camera? If so, what default onboard saturation/hue settings do you use?

Also – and please forgive me if I've overlooked this before, but I've honestly been searching – would you mind telling me (or pointing me to the relevant post) how to upload pics here from a Mac, as I've tried before and failed.

Cheers,
Tim

Hi Tom - I never use in camera hue/saturation I always shoot RAW these days. The main thing I did with this pic was USM 180/0.5/0 and just a wee bit of manipulation in contrast.

Okey dokey - loading pics via a mac - if you are with pixspot this is the method.

firstly insert from the menu bar [img] then the following http://www.pixspot.com/albums/userpics/ then the image file name i.e. _DSC4545 followed by .jpg and finally [img] again - there must be no spaces at all and before posting hit the preview button to check that the photo will appear in your post.

If you have any further problems just pm me.
