Much to my friend's dismay I was stopping every couple of moments and got some shots I'm proud of.

I'd love to hear any comments or critique, but I must say these are pretty close to what I want in a good pic.

I haven't had much time to post lately. Hope these two (imHo) excellent pics make up for it. I'll work on some of the others and post them tonight, got to go to work.

My settings are +1 exp compensation (tried 1.3 but was getting blown highlights), matrix, program mode (don't have too much time to mess with settings while with friends in the middle of snowboarding) and have rear flash ready as it will be very difficult to expose people's faces without the background getting blown if it's sunny snow.

Awsome shots...looks very eery when no-one is around, almost isolated, like you're lost in the snow and waiting to be rescued ...ah umm....back to reality. :)

Nice shots :)

The awesome beauty of nature - very eerie pics which is what I like.

Oh well, back to the Sydney heat - 38°C yesterday

Looking at these now, I'm wondering if the bottom pic is a little bit too blue, and the highlighted snow in the background couldn't be a little brighter. My favorite part is the pattern and texture in the foreground of pic #2.

No, no, no - the deep blue of the sky in pic 2 is complimented in the lighter blue of the snow - I suppose one could call it reflection. The same in pic 1 the darkness of the sky is reflected in the grey of the snow.

Chris,

Thanks, sometimes when you like something a lot, you look at it a lot and start wanting to nit pick where it isn't necessary, then over post process and ruin a perfectly fine picture. Appreciate all of your feedback. You've been and invaluable source to me in my progress in photography (who'd have thunk an Aussie would be one of my most helpful sources of information?
