Nice shot Rob, was that from Harbourtown or somewhere eles as i have heard of this place but havent been there yet, when we come up that way we stay at Adelaide shores caravan park so not far away from the airport so used to sit and watch them, but when i come down in april i hope to get the chance to get some shots.
Cheers

Nice and clear Rob, did you take that from Whyalla with your 200-400 VR?

Great shot, perfectly framed.
Have you done any photoshop work on it? Please take this as constructive critism I am not an expert, perhaps a shade more contrast, i think a small amount of levels and some USM (un-sharp mask, 0.5 radius, 100%) could perhaps improve on this image slightly.

yes it was taken at the back of harbourtown, apparently the international big ones eg. airbus ... come in the morning and afternoon, when i drove away i noticed a parking place near the end of the runway so maybe next time will go there and have a look, maybe i will see the pilots faces with my 200-400 !!!

Great shot, but a very sneaky title for this post, no doubt you're looking to maximise the views!

robw25,
you killed yourself if you point the 200-400VR to the aircraft, they will shoot you cos they think you have a shoulder heat seeker missile and try to bring it down

nice capture rob,
any advise to others wishing to shot landing/taking off airplanes?
i was thinking of shooting during a rain storm for an interesting bg, the blue bg is really not helping show the speed or size of the plane, plus using a panning shot would yield the same result.

What Birddog failed to mention is that the 200-400 shipped with a couple of Sidewinder missiles.

i thought they had infrared scrambling to distrubt the laser targeting of your "heat seeker"

i did notice a security camera had turned in my direction so i spose i was being watched, i used a monopod which i had just purchased in the city and was a bit weird trying to keep the plane in the viewfinder, my advice would be to get a list of departure times and dont stand in an open paddock like a spare prick at a wedding ask someone who works there if he knows a viewing area.... like i have said previous ....as i was driving away from it i drove past "the viewing area"
cheers rob
