PeeWee Inline Hockey

I'm pretty happy with this shot. Out of 120 in a very badly lit hockey rink, this one turned out best. Its not the end shot that I like so much as the tiny amount of work I had to to in PS. Just a crop and colourising blue, then adding a black border.

Any feedback on how I could improve it is most welcome.

I really like this shot...

I like the way you have only captured from the boys waist down (rather than trying to fit everything in).

When you took this were you thinking about the way it turned out (ie: blue tone, silhouette)?

Well done.

This shot has a lot of atmosphere and I believe the blue enhances the cold environment of ice hockey - very nice shot

i like the shot and the blue tone but i didn't like the amount of black on the top half. maybe a bit more of the shadow of the person from the rink.

Thanks guys.

I had already cropped alot of the top of the photo off and any more would have made it almost landscape which didn't really work.

When shooting I was actually thinking black and white. As I used the Hue and Saturation control to make it B&W I tried a quick colourise and loved the look.

The bottom of the shot is all I captured. The reflection didn't really show so good through the viewfinder. It was a real bonus and I think it adds balance to the shot.

I just wish I'd got more than this from 120 shots :-( Is this a normal ratio?

what set-up were you using kurokaze204?

D70 with 70-300G

78MM, f4.2, 1/5000sec, No flash. Not sure what ISO, but I think 400.

I used Centre weighted Apeture Priority and centered on the medium bright section of the floor next to his hand.

Often though, I use A or S to take the reading and then change to M and set it up the same so I can move around and change focus without the settings changing.

Camera is basic setup with Max Saturation.

Cool shot to be sure, you've done very well with the material at hand to create something very good, Max
