This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Again, great stuff Wendell, except the model's left leg and foot in no 3 looks weird to me.

Nothing short of extraordinary. It's amazing what you can do with one speedlight if you know how to shape the lighting.

Very inspirational stuff. btw I hate you because I have that stupid Fallout Boy song stuck in my head now 'cos of this title :P

#1 and #4 are very reminiscent of Helmut Newton’s work except the bottle in #1 should have been bourbon

Edit - IMO these are the only 2 of the 4 that match the title and are very good

Fantastic Wendell, all great, but number four is really something special.

I love #1 because it implies a story, and #4 is a wonderful portrait.

Wendell,

You have truly produced some great work on this trip. #1 is my pick from these.

All of these look to me to be marginally oversharpened. While I understand that you're trying to achieve a particular look, in #3 you've taken it a smidgeon too far, and there's some haloing evident.

Well, if you were going to pick a "defiant" favourite, it would have to be #3.

She has ATTITUDE. :D

(no offence, Nigell - just had a mischievous thought about your typo! :D )

Forget Fall Out Boy, I was expecting a Jessica Alba shot with bright red lipstick.

I think #1 is great. Has that real 40's & 50's private eye office feel. I keep expectingthe P.I. to be sitting behind the desk blowing smoke from the cigarette.

I also really like #2. The skin tones remind me of Daryl Hannah in BladeRunner. I love the effect.

I'm certainly jealous of the work that you produce.
Cheers,
Vince

It reminds me more of Sean Young ;) but I think it has gone too far and looks more like a painting than a photograph.

Bloody brilliant Wendell. Stephanie and I have just been pouring over these. I'm not sure who the star is in the first shot - the models or the lighting!
