Scanner for macro?

I took this shot today, so I thought I would post a scan of the original flower with a pen next to it so you could get an idea of the real size of the flower. I didn't realise how crisp and 3d a cheap scanner can portray a real object placed on the glass. May be worthwile experimenting some more.
Anyway, here are both photos.

This is quite interesting.
My scanner is not yet working again (change of motherboards).
However I will look into this when the scanner is back online.

SO what you are saying is that the pic with the pen is straight from the scanner and not a photograph?

Exactly, and the flowers you see next to the pen are the actual flowers I used in the first photo (while they were still on the tree of course :) )
The interesting thing is that the scanner gives you 1:1 magnification.
Now if only I could take the scanner outside and hold it against the flower :wink: :idea:

And the scan has far more DOF and is sharper :roll:
