Portrait shot

Attempted a casual portrait of my daughter. Just grabbed the camera and pushed the shutter. Shot with 70-300G, 78mm, 1/160 @f6.3, auto mode (sorry! - usually shoot manual but this was a quick one!), ISO 200, auto WB.

PP was just a crop and levels adjustment.

Appreciate any comments.

(The first file was too big so this is smaller version)

Cheers,
Simon.

Manta, great shot and great smile. She is very photogenic, she justifies your gear on her shot alone. As an aside, I would probably try to include the top of her head when framing the shot, you can always crop later.

ps was 300k as a download (slow), for web use I try to keep around 80 to 150 k max as a favour to viewers. I am on cable and it was slow to download

Thanks Glen. I take your point about the crop - don't know what happened there....

I'll scale down my images further in future so as not to disadvantage anyone.

Cheers,
Simon.

lovely image of your daughter....

but maybe next time try reducing the size of the file, I am currently working in an office that has a dail-up connection...waited a very long time..but well worth it!! :)

Simon, scaling it down also doesn't disadvantage the shot, screens only display 72ppi, which is quite low, so you wont be able to tell the difference.

It really is a lovely shot with nice shallow DOF which works well
