I didn't really like this pic much before because I felt like the trees were in the way of the background. Now I realize that those trees help distinguish this shot from the millions of other shots that have been taken of this mountain Range (of course I hiked through the woods up to a cliff that I saw). I really like the foreground and am happy that I went purusing through my pics to see if any got left over. What are your thoughts?


I must say I sort of enjoy the contrast of the lit trees with the dark or black trees. It too makes the image interesting to me. Weird how I discarded this pic once upon a time.

Love the sky, love the mountains. I also love the trees. The dramatic underexposure of some of the trees right down the bottom of the image gets to me a bit though. Can you do something in PS to lighten them up (not much of a PS guru myself)?

I gave it a try but I have yet to figure out the whole layers thing, and the magic wand just wants to select the wrong stuff and I don't have the patience to zoom in and get rid of the other stuff. I gave it a try and I didn't like it so I left it like it is. It just looked better this way (i actually cropped a lot of black at the bottom).

Looks like a well exposed image and nice and sharp. I'm not too worried about the lack of detail in the foreground, but the tall trees (particularly the one on the right) are very distracting. I had to look for the mountains.

I really like the crispness of the mountains in the background and the direction of the light seems to highlight the texture of them, but sorry I don't like the tree to the right, I find myself moving my head to try and look around it!

I like it but it's a "almost but not quite" feeling. The framing with the foreground trees and shadows is good but to me the mountains are overwhelmed. I agree with jonnydee about having the urge to look around the trees.

we must remember that if we can't at least please ourselves then what is the point? I can understand why you have 'gone back' to this one. Appart from the framing effect of the trees they also provide a good sense of scale to the alps in the distance.
