For a total non-action shot I really like how this one came out. I've been having a blast shooting football for the last few weeks. It's been a bumpy rocket ride to learn the little tricks to get additional useable shots, but thankfully it's looking like I may have found a way to actually pay for all this gear. Any comments are appreciated. Still learning!

Jeff, this is an interesting shot because of the interaction between the ref and the player on the left and the jovial atmosphere on the right. It is good to see someone looking for the behind the scenes shots as well.

That's actually a cool photo as there are three images within the one frame. :)

very nice shot. and a personal subject matter very close to my heart.

I would like to see some shots where you have the eye contact, say of the player getting told about his penalty, or the jokes on the others. get up close and personal with it! "the eye of the tiger" shots are my favourites.

Thanks for the positive and useful feedback. I try very hard to get those eyes in the shot. Not always possible of course.

Here's the level of feedback provided from another forum. Why I continue to post there is beyond me. You'd think that I'd learned my lesson by now.
Total amount of feedback: "It's oversaturated and you added too much contrast as well."

Here's a couple of shots from a few days ago. Game started @ 7pm so you can only imagine the lighting that was available. These are from the same play.

nice shots. i just ordered a teleconverter, TCx1.7 for my 70-200, hoping to get in a little closer, even though my toes are in the players box.

what do you use to get close?

Thanks! I use the Nikon 70-200VR and crop any of those where it makes sense to do so. I don't really mind taking the time to do it, but I'm planning on getting the 1.7 as well. It would be great for games that start earlier in the day.

Jeff,

On the first one, a crop of the two on the left would also make for an interesting shot as well.

The last one is very nice, good action shot.

The second is also very good but it would have been nice to just get the feet of the chasing player in white.

Well done.

If you are starting to get paid for these, I hear the 300mm f2.8 is a very lens to have at football games

Cheers,

André

I'll have to look at the original, the feet of the player may have been cut off from the get go.

Regarding the first picture, I've thought about cropping even further just to get the player and the referee. I know his mom would be happy with it. That shot is cropped quit a bit already, but I may give it a try.

Once I get the camera and the lens paid for I just may consider the 300mm 2.8, that would be a very sweet lens!
