Gidday,

This is a 6 image stitch of Wells Cathedral in the UK. About 45 minutes drive from Bath. This was taken in March this year. Yes that is my wife and daughter standing in front.

It looks ok to me, but not really fantastic. I don't know if it needs more PP or what the issue is. Maybe there is too much grass in the front.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

It is a good stitched pano, well done for that. There are two things I would have done to it though. I would have removed about an inch of the grass in the foreground and I would have increased the contrast a bit.

The distortion of the building is a bit distracting but is not easy to fix unless you are an advanced Photoshop user.

Great subject. It's a beautiful building.

Hi Warwick
Nice pano job.

3 things

The horizon seems to dip to the right. I measured this from the line of stonework running accross the building immediately below the central windows.

Too much grass in front. Crop it.

The building perspective falls away. You can straighten the edges in ps if you check the 'perspective' button when you crop.

:D :D

Hi! Warick,

I was there in June, my pics are still in with the 9K+ that I took for the trip and will not see for awhile  as time & RSI does not permit a quick PP! :P

I like your pic a lot, and as said I would crop the bottom grass to give it a bit more "presence".

About a hundred meters down the road to the left of your pic there is a street, dead end, that was originally used for accomodation for the cathederal, absolutely stunning!! Did you see it?...

Cheers, Andy

Here is a quick fix:

Image

I have straightened the image and used the Filter / Lens Distort tool to try and correct the image slightly. It still looks bowed in the middle of the building, but if I do too much more it just looks to out of shape. I should go back and fix it better in Panorama Factory.

Cropped some grass from the front
I added more Contrast and Saturation
I removed some shadow from the building
I removed highlights from the sky ( this has added noise though )
Increased exposure +0.05 to the ground / building layer

Andy:
No we didn't go down that road. I didn't know it was there. We did go out the back to the fryer's house? Looks like a castle with a moat around it. and through the arched entrance / exit to the cobbled stone street with all the shops. Had a nice pasty from the bakery.

I got a few nice inside shots but they have people in them ( also taking images ). It is a very nice building inside and out.

Cheers
