Nice captures, I especially like the detail in the beetle.

The spider in #1 looks a bit lost in the frame, where you afraid to get closer?   BTW, #3 - is that a white tail spider? I heard they can give really nasty bites...

Cheers
Steffen.

Nice shots
The Beetle is my pick here followed by the last spider

No thats a little jumping spider. We get heaps of white tails and they look a quite different.
Yes White Tails can give a nasty bite. 1 of my mates got a bite on the cheek. He had re-occuring blisters break out on his face for over 10 years.

Thanks for the comments.

I probably should have put captions on them.

For the first one, I tried to frame the leaf the spider was on. Perhaps that was a mistake.

The second one is actually a stink bug (a type of shield bug). These are the nasty ones that eat bits of orange plants and spray you with really pungent liquid if you piss them off.

As Biggzie says, the third one is a jumping spider. If you look carefully it has half an ant in its mouth. A white-tail spider looks like this:

The fourth is a small Argiope sp. spider, probably a St. Andrew's Cross spider.
