Long suffering other half

Ended up with a 50 1.4 (long story), and decided to play - in other words, I was supposed to be doing something 'useful', but made my other half sit in the dark in the hallway instead, while I held flashes around his head and told him not to smile :) LOL

I ended up with these ... insects are SOOOOO much easier :)

Rel,

These are not simply good shots, the way that you have shot and PP'd them makes them almost look like two portraits of two totally different individuals.

The first is beautifully dark and almost sinister, and the second is almost FU. :)

Great stuff as always, and a good change from your norm.

Now, getting back to the insects, was that a flea I saw on the edge of his hairline? :)

that first shot is nothing short of lighting perfection.

Yeah, now that's the way to shoot portraits. Lighting is sublime. Great work Rel.

Thanks everyone :) I'm really not comfortable shooting people, well, taking their photos anyway ;) - but it is fun when you can just play and it doesn't matter how the shots turn out. I was just lucky - man it is a nice lens though !!!!

Gary - have to ask, what is fu ???? I know what I thought it meant (f***ked up) , but I don't think that was the meaning you were using ?????

WOW!!! Very very nice, first one, the eye contact is powerful!

I love your bug shots (something I never do) but great to see you shoot people so well.

reminds me of a portrait in yesterdays weekend fin review, the few days growth pushed in high contrast is very bold, and charismatic.

in the first shot, two things I noticed, he was sitting in the dark, so pupils are large, and looking at the great detail you have captured in the blokes iris, would be great to see more. if you were using flash, maybe have a lamp on to close the pupil a little.

also, if you are a PP person, maybe soften the detail of the nose (pores), my eyes are distracted from the powerful eye contact a little.

first one is great!!! :D
