That looks to be in excellent condition.
What's the shutter count?
Good to see you're using the B&W CF card

Thanks guys
The F2-6 are next on the list, but it will take a while to complete the list. The F6 price is still mighty high.
Gary, not sure about shutter count or how to check.
I am looking forward to taking this baby out on the film day planned for next year.

I had one of those for many years. The Prince of cameras! Like a housebrick with a neckstrap....but so very nice to use.

Very nice.
One of the girls at work recently purchased an F1 body with 4 lenses and a viewfinder as a gift for a friend of hers. Apparently this friend had had one that was given to her by her grandpa before he passed away and it was stolen, so the F1 has a fairly deep sentimental value to her. All the gear was delivered to the office so I was able to have a hold and a play, and I have to say, the fit and finish of the camera was superb. I'd really love to get my hands on some classic camera gear, but I think i need to cross everything off the list for my current camera before I go nostalgia crazy.
Very nice find. Is there plans to hunt down additional lenses for it?

Matt K - if the F is the Prince, what is the King?
Matt C - that's a great story about your friend's purchase.
I do plan to get a few MF primes for this and the FE - my plans are to get a 135, a 50 (or 55 macro or even the 55 1.2) and maybe a wider angle. I don't do much long telephoto stufff.

Very nice toy Patrick! I've been eyeing off a few old school cameras in Melbourne. Found this 2nd hand camera shop selling really antique stuff, run by an elderly chinese lady

Go for it Wayne - as a Canon user, you would be used to 1960s ergonomics.
(just kidding).

I love the treatment on the last image Patrick. It really seems to suit the Camera, and a nice new toy too!

I would say that camera is about twice as old as I am!! But it looks in better shape than I am (smooth and shiney)
Now I'm tuning in for updates on your F2-6
Then all the FE, FM, FA...

Thanks Brett.
Yip - it may take another year to get to the F6, but hopefully the F2, F3 & F4 pretty soon.
Now, already have on FE.

nice nice nice!
i always have admired nikon's cameras since i was a young boy. in fact, ive often thought that if i had a bit more cash, i'd set about collecting some of the older nikon cameras (and perhaps even D1 series - they were revolutionary), simply because they are all so perfect.
for this reason i'd have a hard time selling any of the bodies i currently possess (d200, d70s, f4s, f601)...

What was poorly implied was that the F6 would be about a year, and the F2-4 would be relatively soon and the F5 would be somewhere between pretty soon and a year.
Or, I just get an F5 pretty soon......
