Far from me to give any critique, as I am just a novice, but a great photo

Lovely picture. :D
The leaves frame him well, and the background is nicely out of focus.
The only suggestion is to maybe crop the out of focus flower on the bottom edge as it doesn't add to the picture.

I like it, it grabs my eye nicely.

I would be tempted to try cropping the left and bottom edges to remove the OOF flowers, but I'm not convinced it's a huge improvement. I'd need to see both side by side.

very good image of one of my favourite subjects....... have you had a look at taking a little off the top to make the bird stand out more......

I think that novice critiques count just as much as crits from those that have a better idea of what they are doing.. after all the pro's are still trying to please the general public with their images and its always nice to know whether or not an image is appealing to people or not.. :)

Btw.. I think the shot is great.. really good dof there with the bird being so sharp and the background dropping away nicely... colours are good too... love the way he is looking at you! :)

Thats a beautifully composed shot and the DOF really is spot on. I do agree with the above comments that it may benefit from a crop to the bottom and left to remove the out of focus foreground flowers. Either way though, beautiful shot with brilliant execution. :D

1st pic of those two looks much better than the original, amazing what a bit of cropping can do!

Looks good (damn good) to me! I agree that cropping the OOF areas helps - but not too much - it takes away from the beauty of the overall picture.
