I wasn't the only one out looking for things at night - I don't think I've ever come across soooo many snakes !!! At least this was only a python :)

Thanks again guys :)
He was a beauty - I was lucky to see him ... I was checking out a dragonfly resting on some branches and stepped in closer - the python was pretty much next to my toes when I finally noticed him !!!!

John - heaps of stuff !!!! Nearly tripped over an echidna, heaps of ruffous bettongs, wallabies, so many tree snakes and carpet pythons, and what I thinks may have been a taipan :? .. but luckily it pissed off pretty quickly... birds by the dozens - I kept getting followed by one particular dollar bird (not sure why), and of all the things that made friends with me at the caravan park - a brush tailed possum who ended up coming to my door every evening for a bit of apple !!!!

Hugs
Rel

Great sharp shot,

A snake with attitude, I'm not sure what it is, maybe the catch lite in its eye or the mouth that appears to be slightly open at the back but it looks to me like it's growling at you.

Cheers Rick.

Beautiul nature pic.

Excellent sharpness, as others have said, and compositionally very strong - that branch just leads you straight in to the snake.

How long does it take to determine that it is "just a python" and therefore safe to photograph, as opposed to dropping the camera gear and running into the distance screaming?

photography is dangerous ... you tend to take a quick pic to get it before it moves, take a better framed pic then think ... oh crap, i'm out a here >>>>>
