I would like the claim it, I really would. But I have no idea what happened. Shooting security guards at night and had way too fast a shutter speed. Basically I made a mistake, however there must have been light from somewhere to reflect off the vests. But its got me scratching my head. If anyone has a theory I would love to hear it. C&C welcomed as usual. Click the image for larger on black photograph.

Very cool result. I can only imagine that they do such a good job of reflecting ambient light, that at a setting that dropped tha background to black they still exposed well.
Out of curiosity what colour were they to the naked eye? Just wondering if we are seeing a colour shift. If so it sugests the light source as different to whatever the WB was set to, and that could be a clue to what we are seeing.

Looks like a lot of UV light. The white collar on one of the gaurds looks like a strip of blue.
Very cool shot though.

Light orange was the colour of the vests. They are more red in that shot.

I'm going with UV light as any kind of ambient light would have shown up the reflective strips rather than the orange in the vests.
As Raskill said the whites look blue which is another thing UV light is good at!
