Boats in the night

Stopped on the way home to relax by the lake. Took a couple of shoots. Learn't more about what not to do. Even when calm, 30 seconds is way to long. ISO 1000 still quite grainy, and I have lots of room to "grow" as a photographer!
(the heron would not stand still!)
I like them enough to go back and try "properly" next calm night.

The first two of these suffer because of their size here and I won't comment on them since it's unfair to do so when i can't see the detail. #3 is excellent - great reflections and composition with strong lines. For shots like this I rarely go above ISO 400 to avoid noise but of course a lot comes down to the ambient light you have to work with since, as you say, at longer (~30 sec) exposures movement is your enemy.

LOL I would clone the heron out if I were you.

Although difficult to see in #2 I do like the Heron, adds something surreal to the shot.

I really like the last but I think that the composition is off. Try a crop from the bottom.

#1 and #3 work really well for me personally with the symmetry of boat and reflection
