Bride shots - can't get WB right for skin tones

Bride shots - can't get WB right for skin tones

G'day

I was at some friend's wedding recently and they picked a really *crap* time to get married. Midday, bright overhead sun (yes even in Melbourne the saun can shine), the ceremony was held in partly full sun, partly dappled shade from a large tree.

Anuway, I'm sort of struggling to get the WB right. The camera went for 5400K which I think was too blue. After some fiddling I've got WB set to 6000K for the first two, 5800K for the last two.

Other the the WB adjustment, no other PP yet; just slight cropping, resized down and jpeg conversion in Capture NX.

I would use the WB eyedropper and firstly try the whites of her eyes as a WB point.

With time you start to see if images are too cold / too warm - but in the meantime you can use RGB numbers also - trying to find something close to RGB 128,128,128.

when the sun sucks like that I throw a reflector up above them to shade them - at least for the more formal shots - signing of the register etc.

Good luck.
