Fungus

These shots are from last year when I stayed in Pemberton. The fungus was just starting to sprout which made for some lovely walks.

They were taken with my Fuji s7000, but I have only just done the PP.

Hopefully next year will see me there again with a *real* camera, a bit more knowledge and a nice macro lens!

The second is a ripper, very unusual shape and great colour. :D The first and fourth though are a little soft.

I love #2 for the detail - great macro shot. #3 probably needed a smaller f stop to bring most of the fungus on the trunk into focus.

#2 is actually very close to life size! There were larger ones around, but most of them were damaged. The largest we saw was about half a rockmelon in mass.

I have a pocket guide book somewhere called 'what fungus is that', and if my memory serves me correctly it is called a yellow brain fungus...

Tricky subjects...but interesting. I like the yellow blob.....wonder if it's edible? :D
