While it may not be as sexy as some others, I've had a fun year with Motor Sport, I didn't really concentrate on much else through out the year, perhaps next year will be different...

I came very close to giving it all up during the year, and not just Motor Sport but all things photography. I kept with it and finished the year off with some fun. It's been a tough year this year for me, I've been extremely flat out with my 'paying' work and gone through some very very low lows which didn't help with any other bit of my life. It really has been a year of extremes, both low and high, the highlights have been my Family, close friends (new and old) and being able to immerse myself once again into taking some photos.

To those that have encouraged me throughout the year and those that have given me some much needed criticisms I thank you one and all.

Nice mate. Number 1 is a cracker. Like the superbikes also, a classic bike image. I like the reflection in 6 also.

I know what you mean about almost giving up the photography. I went through a stage where i didn't pick the camera up for about 3 months and had no motivation. I had a lot going on in my 'real' life and it affected everything else.

I'm glad you stuck with it, and hopefully, will meet you in 2008.

By standard set I was meaning what camera and lense are your "standard " our usual one(s) that you use the the type of shots you posted.
I have a canon 40d and would like a new lense this year (none of which I can afford) but am considering a Canon 100-400 or a canon 70-200 f2.8 (and 2x converter). Just tossing up what to go for for all the general "stuff" that I do.

Well I'm a Nikon shooter, but that is besides the point.

All shots above were with the 70-200 f2.8 VR and some with the 1.7TC attached. The other lens I usually use is the 18-70 kit lens from the D70, what I want is the 14-24 + 24-70 or the 17-35 f2.8 variants and a 10-20 Sigma...

For you I'd definitely recommend the 70-200 f2.8 (either IS or non) and the 1.4TC, the 2 can get a bit soft. I've not really be convinced with the push-pull 100-400, I just find it a bit clumsy and not as sharp as the 70-200 on the Canon.
