Dipodium punctatum - terrestrial orchid
Some shots of a terrestrial orchid, Dipodium punctatum.
Timing was mid day, wind was blowing a gale and plants waving around, and I was trying not to lie in the dirt to take the shot (due to being in good office clothes)(and being in office clothes is what gave me the shites and the need for a drive) and lucky to have the camera in the car. Thus a lot of excuses for some shots not as good as they should be. The flower size is abodt a 10 cent piece. Did have the canon 100mm macro lens on. What could I have done better? Waz

Gorgeous subject. Orchids always fascinate me. I would have boosted the contrast and brightness a bit to give the images a bit more depth. The first two look a little flat.

The background is great in the first two. I agree with Steve that you could punch up the contrast a bit - maybe try levels.
The first is the best. A nice simple image with a fair amount of detail. More depth of field would have helped. How was it lit? The second is a little two crowded for me and doesn't have enough separation between the flowers. The third is great for showing the whol spike, but the background and the reeds criss-crossing it are distracting.
