Its called architect's dog because it was on a leach in front of an Architect's office.
Can you critique this photo please. Is it too dark? Is it not contrasty enough? Is the dog's tone too overwelmed by black?
Cheers

Personally I would crop out the left hand side. There also appears to be a fair amount of noise in the black areas - maybe if you have the original try less contrast

Send it to the RSPCA for their next ad campaign!
The noise and contrast add to the feeling in the dog's eyes
Perhaps crop a LITTLE on the left, to exclude where the wall changes.
...just goes to show how subjective this whole "do you like this" question is!

I think the compartments or whatehver they are behind the dog looks like kennels. So yeah, it'd be a good ad campaign for RSPCA

I like this shot. In a perfect world you would have framed it a bit to the right to catch the whole dog but I don't think that this is a major drawback.
I agree that you shouuld crop out the left hand side to avoid the changes in the wall.
Perfect for the RSPCA's christmas campaign about caring for your dog.

I purposely added noise to add that 'storylike' feel.
I agree with the second critique though. I'll crop out the white wall.

I think that framing in on the dog just slightly more, and making the kennel thingies go slightly out of focus would add a little more drama to this pic. But a fine pic nonetheless.

I think I know where you are coming from but to me noise is noise. I think dooda has a good suggestion or even a mezzotint mask would be better than plain noise IMHO

I agree that the photo is too noisy.
I think the dead space at the top would be OK if you had the whole dog in shot, but when a significant portion of him is also missing, then the photo becomes a little unbalanced.
Hope this helps.

It's a great photo, but I think there's too much noise in the walls... if they were darker, I wouldn't be noticing it as obviously.
Also, a darker wall might induce the feeling of a bit more lonliness for the dog.

You've used grain to excellent effect. Don't listen to what others are saying, it's clearly 'artistic grain' and not 'camera noise'.
I'm put off by the tilt more so than the crop/framing. Just a couple of degrees clockwise rotation so the pillars in the background are straight....

I'd like to see the dog smiling a bit.

I like this pic a lot. The dog's expression being the focus of the image. The use of B&W and the grain is a great addition to the pic.
Well done.
