Rel,
The behaviour shot of the mantis is great. The eye "looks" a little unsharp, but I think that is the nature of insect eyes as I often have that problem even though everything else around it is sharp. The butterfly is gorgeous. You have nailed the focus and it brings out the texture of the wings. What lens were you using?
Thanks Andrew - was a real bugger last night - around 40 rare frogs, and it was raining way too hard to take any shots But the mantid shot turned out ok LOL

The 'beercup' is the PJ lightsphere and the cap is the diffusion cap that clips onto the lightsphere .... see here: http://www.qualitycamera.com.au/product ... ts_id=1419 Dodging and burning are steps to take care of mistakes God made in establishing tonal relationships! -Ansel Adams

Rel,
I have a clone of the PJ Lightsphere (thanks to Gary and Poon). It is called a "Lambency Flash Diffuser" but is essentially the same thing. I have tried it with macro, but I find my DIY softbox works better.
