Thanks for the comments guys.
I've updated the original post with links to this years and previous years tournaments. I found it interesting looking back thru the old shots. In my opinion the better ones are the "in your face" shots rather than the wider ones, even if some of the player or racket is cropped with the close in shots.
I've got a lot of learning about the D3 to do. The first days shots (of this years tournament) were shot at ISO 1000 at f8. Exposure times were a squillionth of a second. At this setting I was loosing a bit of quality in the skin tones. The next day (includes those images posted above) were at ISO 400 at f7.1 - f8 and still very short exposures, most faster than 1/2000. I'll be back there tonight, the light won't be as severe, but I'll be trying ISO 200 and trying to stay faster than 1/1000. We'll see how they turn out. I'll be concentrating on eyes, racket and ball and getting in really close.
I have media accreditation this year, so can get quite close to the players. The shutter at 9fps seems louder than the D200 shutter. I got the evil eye once from the serving player after a burst of shots in close while she was serving.
Cheers
John
