Holiday Snaps #2OK, I am not making excuses - but I am VR deprived. No VR. None.
That 80-400 VR would do me very nicely, very nicely indeed. And it would make shots like this one better...... However, there was a pelican, there was me with camera, what are you gonna do? Tamron 70-300 at full stretch, ISO800, not enough light, too much coffee. Pelican in Flight. Comments welcome. Greg - - - - D200 etc

Don't worry Greg, it's a bloody good effort with the lens you used.

Kipper you bast#&!d you just had to say it didn't you? Some of us don't have a Birddog to get us great bargains. Way to rub it in. In all seriousness Kipper, you must really be looking forward to it. Your images have to be pretty awesome now.
Yeah, just hoping it doesn't take too long as there is a world shortage on them.
However even if I don't get to use it at the F1GP, I'm going down to Tower Hill at Koroit for Easter so I should be able to capture some nice images down there in the wetlands. Also I will be taking some drives to Port Fairy. Might do some research now and see what there is too shoot. Anyway that's OT. Great shot Greg, was that the full framed picture or did you do a bit of cropping?
Greg
If that's what you can do without it, imagine what you'll get when you have VR. Excellent shot. Peter

Thanks folks. Yes Glen, panning slightly. The lake at Merimbula is a great spot for birdlife - hopefully that is an indication that it is in good ecological condition. The oysters that come from it sure were nice.
