Finally - after 4 weeks a clear night and no moon..
It gave me a chance to try out the new 85mm 1.8 - used it on the LMC
Horsehead taken through the 20 inch scope

Virgs - man do you get around. Home from interstate holidays on Monday early evening and up at Stockport last night/early am today.
Corker shots again. If I had to pick one, #1.
Hope the Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM works out well for you.

Fozzie, it already has and will get a hiding tonight as well. Skies are clear and I have spent the day getting all the new hardware set up and ready..
Will be using the cooled camera on the 10 inch and using the 30D and various lenses on the other tracking mount..Will be a busy night!!!
That second photo is a 48 minute exposure at 1600 iso!

Hey BigV, looks like the Canon gives the same incorrect colour to the Tarantula in the LMC as the Nikons do. It should be a combination of Halpha pink and green O3, but comes out blue like mine does.

Gordon, you are correct - getting the reds out of Haplha is imossible unless you
modify the camera by removing the ir filter but as I use the camera during the day I am not prepared to do it. It is really frustrating seeing a blue neb when it should be red!! Then again - we are pushing the envelope on what these cameras can do, not many people take an exposure for 30 minutes with uncooled cameras!!
