I'm not Rel (not even close) but I believe this is a Litoria lesueuri, although it would be nice to see the non PP version.

The only PP done to this is a little sharpening. Colours are as is.

Oh, wow. I still think it is L. lesueuri but the colour is quite odd (at least based on the L. lesueuri that I have seen).

It's actually Litoria wilcoxii (previously known as Litoria lesueuri , but reclassified after a taxonomic revision) - the males are significantly smaller than the females, and will colour up to this brilliant yellow when breeding - this is one that I took up at Crows Nest

Crazy colour huh?

Well done John - nice shot :)

Thanks Rel - I knew that I could count on you :D By the way, other than The Wildlife of Greater Brisbane (which I bought) is there a good frog specific field guide I can purchase. I hate shooting things I cannot ID.

Rel,

Is that right across Australia, or only the Queensland frogs? From what I can find L. lesueuri is still valid for New South Wales.

the northern populations were reclassified in 2004, but the NSW population still exists as lesueuri .... there is an 'all right' distribution map for lesueuri on http://frogs.org.au/frogs/species/Litoria/lesueuri/ with the distribution for wilcoxii on http://frogs.org.au/frogs/species/Litoria/wilcoxi/ and jungguy on http://frogs.org.au/frogs/species/Litoria/jungguy/

If you want to get technical :
Although L. wilcoxii has been designated a distinct species within the Litoria lesueuri species group on the basis of geneitc and allozyme analysis, it was originally designated L.wicoxii by Gunther in 1864, and later incorporated into the larger L. lesueuri species complex. It has also been previously recognized as Hyla vinosa and Hyla kinghorni, though both of these are now rejected in Donnellan and Mahony's redesignation to L. wilcoxii.(Donnelann and Mahony, 2004)
taken from http://amphibiaweb.org/cgi-bin/amphib_q ... s=wilcoxii (actually a pretty good site)

Thanks, Rel. I won't have to change the captions on my photographs, then. ;)

Sorry John - i never answered that did I? :(
There are 2 books I can recommend:
A field guid to frogs of Australia by Martyn Robinson
or an even better book is
A field guide to Australian frogs by Barker, Grigg & Tyler
