No idea. But that just makes it an even more interesting photo.

It looks to me to be some sort of coral or something that lives in/on coral. The first thing that struck me though was that it looked like it was a photo taken of an organism under a microscope.

I like it just for the abstract value. Nice colour too.

I would lean towards the cntre of an anemone.

A few of you guessed close and a few of you must have marine tanks.

It a corallimorph up close. They're closely related to anemones.

Kind of looks like a Mushroom of the Sea.
Regardless it's beautiful.

Not at all what I was expecting the whole animal to look like.
Still pretty though.
