Ghost MonthThis is from August 2007. August is 'Ghost Month' in the Chinese lunar calendar.
As for Ghost Month, here's what you do (Daoist tradition, the Buddhist Ghost Month tradition is different): * Put out a large table covered in fruit, biscuits, wine, beer, and whatever else you think the ghosts might like to eat * Burn incense on the table, and put a few images of the gods on it (optional) * Grab one of those metal drums and start a fire in it with some waste paper * Get the paper money ('ghost money'), you purchased from your local vendor, unfold the leaves in wads, and throw them into the fire * Add the odd incense stick now and then * When you're out of paper money, douse the fire, sweep up the mess, and take the food back inside (or give it to friends)
Re: Ghost MonthWhat a lovely tradition! Thank you for taking the time to explain it to us..
I also like the way you have laid out the images.. they look very effective that way.. specially with the bright red colour of the drum and the flames as the black borders really make them stand out.. I like... The last thing I want to do is hurt you... but it's still on the list...
Re: Ghost MonthYes, lovely tradition, but where is the food and beer? That's what I want to know!
Re: Ghost MonthThanks guys. I did like the colours in those shots. Actually I also took some photos of the food and beer, but unfortunately it just didn't look very interesting.
