Definitely the BW. It concentrates the mind on the architectural qualities of the bales & Oh that sky!!!

The B&W is surely the winner in that race. Stunning!

Wow!
I like them both and I think I like the B&W slightly more than the colour version, powerful images with a beautiful balance of fore, middle and background interest! Excellent!!

the sky just looks wrong somehow ... as if you have cut and pasted a vertical sky shot on to a horizontal pic if you know what i mean.

apart from that the B&W looks more dramatic 8)

The B&W treatment works very well in this shot, however I prefer the colour version.

Great location!

Itend to lean towards B/W too, Mr Darcy Steve Griffin and Xerubus, and as you pointed out Geoff,it has a good balance of Fore, Middle, and Backround and that's the balance i try to acheive,[one way or another}and YES Big Red,you are correct, that's exacly what I did.and thank you all for your input :D

I prefer the colour shot as it has retained more definition :)

I like the colour shot personally. Grew up on a farm, spent many evenings baling hay.

The B&W is great but for me is less realistic. Amazing sky though.

Both amazing shots.

Thanks for your coments deadgoose and Chris.The reason i wanted to , more or less to find out which one , is because a farmer friend of mine likes to have a copy of his {paddock}

Mate. Give him a copy of both and let him decide which one goes in the lounge room. :)

I prefer the B&W as well, however the colour is nice and would certainly stand up on it's on. I would like the blue in the sky to be a bit stronger though, to give it the strength the B&W shows in that part of the frame, then it may even become my favourite!

I prefer the colour, it grabs me more. I like the green and yellow combo.

One niggle - in Australian terms that is not the long paddock, that's just a paddock. The long paddock is the one next to the road (in case you didn't know)

Whilst I like the B&W version, it is probably just a little too contrasty for my taste.

He would be happy with either I suspect. Or maybe both!

I have to admit I am going to borrow your composition idea next time I go home to the farm. Hope thats OK? Will post results when I do.

I like the colour shot myself. I love the stark difference in colour and the vibrancy of the shot in general. The sky does look a little strange though.
