Hunting Whales at Night

Downloaded photo mechanic last night and went through hundreds of pics and sorted, filed, deleted, etc. til 3.30 am.

It's interesting looking back at some old photos and deciding whether to keep or delete and wondering what you will ever do with them.

That started me thinking as I continued to go through pics this morning and in my sleep deprived state I produced this in 10 minutes from one of those images that would normally have been subjected to the delete key treatment.

Instead it got the solarised, lens flare and miscellaneous tinkering treatment.

Honest opinions please

I like this image alot, the extreme contrast coupled with the redndered lens flare really works for me.

Very arty indeed

Cheers

I like the image Bob but the lens flare seems to be behind the subject rather than in front. As the flipper is lit from camera view the lens flare might be better positioned on the upper or lower right hand edge :)

Adam - Thanks for your comments mate.

Chris - Thanks for you obsevation.
Here's how I looked upon it:-
I thought the title might give the explanation " Hunting Whales at Night ".
Whilst the technique used in photoshop is titled lens flare - I have used it to simulate the look of a searchlight from a Japanese vessel coming towards the Whale rather than any intention to indicate the presence of a photographer or lens flare which would obviously be unlikely to occur in this darkened atmosphere in the manner represented here.

I'm not so sure about it. I think a little more 'life' in the shot is needed. It looks like an illustration from one of those Japanese comic books which while cool is not really my thing.
