G'day all.

Having been pretty down on myself after coming home last night after my first attempt at shooting cycling, I'm now feeling a bit better about things :-)

They're not as bad as I first thought, although I do seem to have a real ability to get the focuspoint on the second cyclist in a line, which is not a widely-desired skill…

Going back to today's final event in a couple of hours to see if I've learned anything.

Hi Mickeyjuice,

I had a look at your Flickr-site and noticed a number of cycling shots.
Are you into cycling yourself ?
I love No 2 and No 3 - they display (inter) action.
No 1 and No 4 are a little bit static if I may say so - the wheels are frozen.

And thanks for your feedback, regards,
CD

Re C&C - agree completely. First time I'd shot it, and it was't that good, although not as bad as I thought last night, when I was about to give it away altogether :-)

Planning on getting out with my in-laws to shoot some downhill soonish, as they're mad into it.

Yeah, I do cycle myself, but only for transport, not for racing :-) Work on the fitness, save fuel, etc.

I really like the 4th shot. Nice action.

Hard to get so close?

Cheers Christian. Lightroom is ingesting today's shoot (about 10GB) but a couple I've sneaked a look at look a lot better, so we'll see.

REALLY easy. I'd talked to their meda guy before the events, but the only real rule was "stay out of the way". The was no-one down near the hairpin, so I was shooting through the metal barriers they had up, with both the 30/1.4 and the 10-20.

More people at today's event, though, so it wasn't as easy today. The 120-300 looks big and pro, though, so just carrying that around on the monopod means people tend to make space for you to shoot in :-)
