Hey
I know the images are crap and not very clear, but I an wrapped to just get some of these little suckers in flight.
These little native bees are fast as well as small.
And sunset may give the flowers nice colour,but.....
Size comparision between the this native bee and the "honey" bee
Does anyone know the name of the native bee?
The flowering gum is Corymbia 'Summer Beauty'.
They are hybrids between the West Australian red-flowering gum Corymbia ficifolia and the swamp bloodwood Corymbia. ptychocarpa.
(note that they will sometimes be labelled as Eucalyptus rather than Corymbia)
