This shot taken yesterday but couldn't access the site last night.

I see entries close midninght tonight so looks like I'm still in.

After the second crack during roasting the coffee beans are released into the cooling chamber where they are turned over and over to release the heat.
Hope you like it

Thanks Sue, Patrick and Shane

Patrick - not a home roaster but a commercial roaster at Sunshine Beach where they roast inshop every day and provide fresh roasted beans to restaurants around Noosa etc. I think these are Yemen beans which are smaller than what you normally see ( and very hard to come by) - but the best coffee you'll ever taste IMHO

Bob - I didn't think that was a home roaster! Is that Pioneer roasters?

The Yemen is, indeed, a great bean - packs a mouthful of flavour, either as part of a blend or single origin. I personally find it a pain in the neck to roast. There seems to be a large amount of chaff given the size of bean, I get more consistant unevenness (work that one out) in the roast compared to a lot of other beans, and I have to be very wary of any small rocks that are still in my bag. However, all this is easily offset by the flavour. :D
