Just playing around with a shallow DOF, like the way this came out, your thoughts?

For me, these types of shot often work better where the object in sharp focus is not at either end of the line but perhaps the 2nd of 5 or 3rd of 8 or something other than the middle or either end.

Cool matreshki. I would agree with above coment as well, close in more and focus on 2nd or third doll and then place the focus doll off center.
Just my thought.

I like it. I like how the "odd man out", or the " odd doll out" in your instance, is the one in focus. That's the one with the eyes pointing in a different direction to the rest of the line. If you do repeat the experiment with the focus on one of the dolls further done the line do make it the "odd one out" as well. Makes the whole shot more punchy.

I tend to agree with the comments above that these
types of shot often work better where the object in sharp focus is not at either end of the line but perhaps the 2nd of 5 or 3rd of 8 or something other than the middle or either end.
Why don't you follow the advice and try again to see which do you prefer yourself?
