Crab Spider - Getting back into macro :)

Hi all,

It's been over a year and a bit since I have taken a macro shot, so as soon as my lens was delivered this afternoon I couldn't wait to give it a go.

I'm quit a bit dusty with my technique and lighting, but hopefully it should come back 'like riding a bike'.

Couple of things I don't like about this initial shot.

1. Shadows from the flash are far far too harsh. Time to make a diffuser.
2. I blew the focus on the front left hand leg.

Here's a crab spider for your C&C. Approximately 2mm head width.

It's great to be out taking photos again!!! :D

This is a very nicely balanced image. I cannot source the lens as there is no exif data. Can you post what your new lens was? Not the 105 by chance?

i think it's a good effort, considering the size of your subject.
