Brought the D200 to the cricket at the SCG on Sunday. Great seats for watching the game (Row P, upper deck of the Churchill Stand) but lousy for taking photos as it was up too high.

Still, I stuck on the 70-200VR & 1.7x TC and had a go. Got a couple of nice shots of some of the Aussie lads having a tonk. Had to remove the TC for the 2nd innings, and pretty much got nothing of note all night.

Saw someone in the bay across, looked like he had a Canon 400/2.8 or similar (I think, looked a bit bigger than the 300/2.... What I wouldn't have given for a 400/2.8, and a seat on the boundary Still, can't really complain. Got my money's worth in runs and excitement for the day.

Yes, they are massively cropped. Can't get that close from row P of the Churchill top deck!

Unfortunately I didn't get the verbals after the dismissal. Tended to mostly concentrate on the delivery and shot - that's something to focus on next time I guess!

Great shots, and I can feel the pain associated with being too far from the action. At the Ashes at the MCG, we were in row nose-bleed in the Great Southern Stand and all I had was the 80-200. Fortunately, I managed to get Shane Warne's 700th test wicket!

By the way, if Roy was playing for my team, he would have been fined for looking back on his stumps after getting bowled.

Great images, all things considered. The last two are excellent insofar as they capture the action very well.
