No, sorry Pa. I think it would look better with a white background. IMHO it drags the colour and the interest out of the flower.

i did one with a black background yesterday and it's a lot better.

I like the bright colour, but I agree with John, not with this flower.

If you look at the luminosity Pa you will immediately see that the two colours are not complimentary. The colour behind the flower needs to lift it and not overpower. White is a choice but I would tend more towards a cream and not pure white. Black as background would lift the colour out of the flowers and make them stand out more.

Good try, but I tend to agree with sirhc55. Try different colours and see what suits the flower bests. The background is just that - a background. It should provide either a context or compliment the main subject of the picture.

Thanks, I think now looks better, don't you? For one thing, it is less confronting. Your eyes goes straight to the subject and in it to the brighter parts first before the rest of the flowers.
