out of about 260 images i took yesterday this happened to 1 of them ....

can anyone tell me what caused it...

this file was 4,14mb the files either side of it 4,94mb and 5.17mb...

i think i took 3 shots in a burst and this was the last, would this be the reason for it.

thanks

The file size difference would be explained by the amount of "white" in shot. Jpeg will optimise the file, not compression, just removal of redundant data. Can't explain the rest though.

Pa,

Sure you didn't somehow bracket the exposures, as on my d200 it always leaves the longest exposure untill last, I bet you had one dark shot aswell?

Hi Pa,

Not sure what has happened here, but I have to say that I really like the effect created. It's one of the more interesting surfing photos I've seen and I make a point of looking at lots of them.

What lens are you using to shoot surfing these days?
