Richmond Bridge - Tasmania - HDR and Impressionist

The well known tourist landmark, Richmond Bridge at Richmond, Tasmania.

Taken with Nikon D2H and 10.5mm Fisheye. (5 images 1 stop apart combined in Photomatix Pro.)
Extra processing in PSCS is with Nik Colour effects Pro; Pro contrast to improve tone depth, polariser for richer blues and greens and skylight to add some warmth. Cropped for balance and sharpened at about 0.3 px and 144% to retain some detail.

I think that HDR works well for this type of image. It might look a bit oversaturated, but that is what I wanted. I didn't want to overdo it though.

I figured it would look good with the Impressionist filter also. A good subject for this filter. If Monet had passed by here, maybe this is how he would have seen it.

Steve, I like the first one, but not so sure about the Monet look. Maybe I'm just not arty enough. The saturation is spot on IMHO.
I've been photographing around Hobart for 3 years now and I've never taken a shot in Richmond.
Note to self ... go to Richmond. I'm sure there is heaps of great HDR material, as you have just demonstrated.

Hi Steve,

I usually despise HDR as when it is done incorrectly (more often then not) it has a cartoon comic look.

But this is outstanding and a very good example of how HDR should look! Also like the impressionist version, and would happily hang that on my wall.

My intention when I post an image is to show what I have been experimenting with, but it's always nice to get a good critique for one's ego now and then.

I like the image a lot, but not fussed on the fisheye inward tilt on the building.

I was going to take some photos early last month when I stayed in Richmond, but after the wedding on Sat night I had no free card space - but I didn't miss any pics either.......

Don't rush me, I'll get down to Richmond one day soon. It's a 40 minute drive so I'll have to take a cut lunch and other provisions.
Besides, I don't have any free time in my weekend calendar until mid May. Too many photographic engagements.

Interesting you should mention Velvia as I did shoot a few of some Velvia with my F5 as well but I think this one looks nicer.

1st photo doesn't look like HDR at all . GJ on having the "perfect exposure".
I actually like the 2nd photo than the 1st one.
