Eye Contact

A few people have told me I should make more effort to make eye contact with the individual being photographed.

Does this suffice?

I would say so. That's a great shot.
You could probably sharpen it a little bit more.

I didn't think non-carnivorous birds normally looked at you front-on like that.

Indeed. Good composition, colours, DOF, exposure, etc.. A tad soft though, but not hard to correct.

How do you know they are not carnivorous? My cat is petrified of these (and other) birds :roll:

Easily fixed in post processing.
You did very well at 1/125s, 340mm. It could also be due to the TC.
