Thanks Chris - I do love Dolichopodidae, but I spose there have been a hell of a lot of photos of them on this site over the years :)
The shot was taken with the 105 macro Nikon, SB800, PJ lightsphere and dome. The shot has been cropped - but shows up the beautiful metallic colours on these 2 species of doli's, and the differences in the head structure, arista (the long thin bit of the antennae) - they are just pretty :)

Thanks Rel for that info on what equipment you used. :)
I'm just so amazed at the unreal detail and clarity of the image. It's fantastic and they are a beautiful colour. :)

I prefer the 2nd shot myself, very clear with great detail.

I prefer the 2nd shot as well. I always seem to prefer the ones that are facing or looking at the camera. Very nicely done. It's motivating me to get out and start using my macro a bit more!

My macro results are never this good  I guess you need good eyesight to start with. Lovely Rel :D

Thanks guys :)
Quang, I usually use autofocus  - I've gotten used to my camera and focus, so I pretty much know when it has hit 'that' spot in focus when I hit the shutter .. used to use manual, but to be honest, I get better results with auto LOL I s'pose that makes me a cheat ????? ;)
Oneputt - it's just practise, lots and lots of practise :) And you can't use the eyesight excuse either young man :), my camera is doing that for me ;)
Phoenix - looking forward to some macros from you soon then :)
And thanks Pehpsi :)
