Spain in Black & White

Hi all,

It's very hard to come back to reality after being on holiday for so long, but playing with photos helps a little bit. Here are a couple from Spain which happen to be in black and white. Criticism/critique would be appreciated.

The second one is brilliant, I just love it. B/W really brings out the texture of the cobble stones, as they lead your eye through the arch.

Welcome back Kris. The first image lacks punch IMHO - it's kinda washed out if that make sense - the blacks are too grey. #2 is in stark contrast (pun intended). This one I love - as Bob has already said the textures are really brought out by the treatment and you've maintained all the shadow detail.

I agree with Peter the first is a little washed out, but I love the composition and the passerby, it just needs a little tweaking.
#2 is great but I think it might be improved (for me) by cropping a bit of the stop

They're both great images. #1 was the one that caught my eye the most though.. Love the perspective and the people scattered around in the image!
