Experiment Portraiture

Well I've been planning for this shoot for the past couple of weeks and finally did it during the long weekend.

I wanted to experiment on lighting, composition and processing. The look and feel I was after was along the lines of gritty and haunted while still maintaining the beauty of the model.

The room was really cool to work in. Lot of antique furniture and all these new and old dolls laying around.

I really like the second of these. The processing, setting and pose all compliment each other really well and give it a great overall look that I think is exactly what you were after. I guess the best compliment I can pay it is that I just like looking at the image, all of it. Very nice.

Fantastic stuff #2 and #3 are my faves, #1 is far off
#4 isn't as potent for me as the rest of the series

Great PP, I really like them! 2 and 3 are my favs. I'd probably do a bit of work on the face in the last shot to soften the skin a touch (smooth out the pores).

:agree: I agree with all of the comments above. These photos are just brilliant. The room, the processing, the model's appearance and clothing... it's all just complements and works so well. When you say you planned it for a couple of weeks, it shows. Well done. :D

Wow, really nice shots! Just wondering if you'd give a bit more info on the setup on the day of shooting and a bit more about the PP as well?

Thanks!

Thanks for the critique guys well appreciated. We'll take those onboard.

Cool if I'm nearing what Wendell used to do then it won't be long now till I do fashion shoots!! (Another area I want to tackle)

Regarding the light setup. I kept it really simple.

I had a speedlight mounted on a stand with a gold umbrella to bounce off from. Triggerred via infrared by the 580 on my cam.
I also had a 400W strobe and just used the modelling light to illuminate the room.
