Wow, those are some really great shots

The clarity and DOF are superb. Would this be the 70-200 on the end?

Really nice exposures and great use of the small depth of field. You must be very happy with the 40D. Where these shot with HP on?

HP on? I'll take a guess and say Highlight Tone Priority?

No just standard Av with partial metering ISO 400 f2.8 2500th/sec

While I am happy with the 40D's image quality, its ergonomics make it a delight to use, doesn't suffer from button clutter, and the menu system is easy to navigate. Though that’s only half the story, the real kudos must go the brilliant EF200mm f2.8L II Sharp wide open, very good contrast, lovely bokeh, fast focusing, all in a small light weight package.
