Overland track - trees

A selection of 'trees' from the overland hike. The conditions were interesting, very moist and cold which meant dealing with a lot of condensation on the lens, waiting a minute before the shot. Even taking the lens cap off meant the lens would mist up. Even then a few of the photos have an 'interesting' misty look...

Telling direction from the trees would be impossible... the moss was 360 degrees!

My own criticism would be that I kept the lens wide open most of the time (f2.8) thus not getting the DOF I should have had... not so obvious in these shots but can be seen in others

#4 for me.

It's a great shot on it's own, but it has special draw for anyone who has been on the Overland Track - the boards, vegetation, low cloud and minimal structures. Looks like Waterfall Valley.

The condensation is a real issue, especially if you keep the camera warm.

Those rainforest shots in the Ducane? I could have spent a whole day there, but got the hurry up... Next time.

Lovely shots. I would be very proud of #4. Really nice feel to the shot.
Can I ask, did you 'sharpen' the others?

Hey, yeah I did some sharpening on the first two. I've only got Picasa to play with the pics at the moment so whatever the default sharpening is in that.

There is something about No 1 I really like, might be the colour greens that have an amazing array

Nice shots Justin, I've done this walk 3 times (many years ago), once with my beloved Kodak instamatic....
The 3rd shot here almost looks like a painting, wonderful effect.

A version that I have edited in Capture NX - I think the light is much better -
