Nice shot Fozzie.
Is that a small crop out of a 420mm shot? How far away were you?

Nice... Daniel, we were standing at the left hand side as you view the rock that they perch on from the grass. Probably just a bit over 5 -6m from the bird in flight. This was taken as it visited the second tree.

Great shot. Might be good if you could tone down the highlights a bit.

Rooz,

Too reduce crop, IMO would loose all impact.

A lot of patience and practice, unfortunately, as they fly so low and fast. Enough to drive a man to drink :)

Hi Fozzie,
sorry I missed you on Friday got caught up .
What happened to the cats? did you see the new girl ?

Glad to see you trying the macaw told you it was fun .. and a 'fair' first attempt (she says with tounge in cheek) , not sure what has happened on the first couple perhaps oversharpened? but the blue has bled into the background along some of the edges especially head neck and back - could just be resolution for web? and the white on the back almost looks a bit bright perhaps sun glare ?

We you fixing on the shot spot or panning ?

Highly recommend you try again from the base of the tree in front of the feeding perch (you must have been close) as you get some clear shots with clean backgrounds (no people or bitumin), and as the bird is then in the shade you don't get the shadows. From this spot I was squeezing 3 pan shots per pass but hope to beat that now with the 40d

I hope to be heading to the zoo later this week on an overcast day trying to get near your standard on the cats - sick of the harsh shadows and want to try out the 70-200 IS f2.8 (have it at last) - but of course I'll give the macaws a go as always.

Oh! by the way still great shots juts not at the same level as your cats
Hey Big V - where's yours?
